About this data

Online applications are recorded by the month we receive them on our application system.

Applications by email or post are classed as paper channel applications. They're recorded by the month they're entered on the system.

Applications that need to be manually re-entered on the system due to error or system issues are not included in the table.

About this data

A completed application includes the time between an application being received by Disclosure Scotland, through to completion with a disclosure issued to the applicant.

We deduct time where the application was suspended on our system, for example for customer contact. Weekend days are included in the number of processing days, but national holidays and Scottish Government public and privilege holidays are not.

The data is based on the month when applications are completed, not the month they're received. Not all applications are issued in the same month they're received.

The processing time for paper channel applications starts from when we receive them, not from when they're entered on the application system.
